Super X - Fi AMP: A mobile surround adapter

During Creative 's presentation of the new line of products with Super X-Fi technology, we were literally looking forward to the so-called “road test” of the material that was made available to us.

As objects of consumption, it is possible to understand the true potential of the various Creative products only by immersing themselves in an everyday context of common use; we therefore expected to obtain data through as many tests as possible. The tests consist not only of listening to different musical genres and artists but also of consumption methods that I considered the most common and daily possible , in order to understand how much one can actually enjoy the sound excellence made in Creative .  techsmartinfo

Today I will talk about AMP .

What is AMP

In this particular case, I will deal with the so-called "AMP", a device that must be connected to the Android mobile device (or even a PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch console ) that allows access to the audio experience we have already talked about in the article previous.

In order to use AMP, in addition to the product itself, you also need the associated Super X - Fi application , which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store . This application is necessary to scan the ear cups and the user's face, a procedure that can be performed several times in order to share the device with several people (therefore convenient in family contexts or close friends).

The application is only required for AMP setup and does not need to be kept open for operation; Once you have set up AMP, you can use it with any application, be it your music library or Spotify.

Packaging and product

AMP has a very simple philosophy: compatibility at any cost. This is evident thanks to the wide range of compatible headphones jacks that can be selected from the associated application. The device is equipped with a USB Type C input and, as anticipated, a jack output . In the package there is a Type C - Type C cable to connect the phone or tablet but an adapter to Micro USB is also included in order not to exclude countless models of mobile devices with an input of this kind.  techbizcenter

 The small size of AMP facilitates its mobility

AMP, as they say, offers no excuse to be avoided , as it includes an item in the box that many other companies, on the other hand, would sell separately. Finally, the small size and the negligible weight of the whole play considerably in favor of the product.

How does it behave with music?

I wanted to deepen Creative's sound experience by subjecting AMP to different musical genres. The sound is very reminiscent of the system or audio of a cinema and Creative's mission is a clear success. This is not an audio experience like, if you remember, that of 3D Audio, an application that made available very few tracks and all specially recorded with multiple microphones. Super X - Fi technology is a conversion.

If you listen to rock or metal, the drums are one of the instruments whose change is most perceived: the rumble of the percussion gives a feeling very similar to that of a concert and is emphasized more, just like in live shows. The genre that, in my opinion, benefits the most is the ambient / soundtrack. There is little to say: everything is more enveloping and you really feel at the center of an orchestra. In general, the rendering of a virtual environment is absolutely realistic: the rumble is the same as it would be perceived in a large theater and even the Spotify advertisement seemed very similar, in terms of sound, to the advertisement that precedes a film in a multiplex.

Not too mobile devices

AMP's compatibility compromise would be perfect if it weren't for one fly in the ointment : mobility . Being a device that can also be connected to Android smartphones, AMP should itself be easy to carry. However, this is not always the case.

The length of the cable and the AMP itself are difficult to manage if you don't have a backpack, student shoulder strap or bag. Indeed, using all the equipment (AMP, cable and adapter) is not only inconvenient for those who simply want to use their pockets but also potentially harmful for the various components. Keeping AMP connected via Micro USB adapter in your pocket, after only half an hour of use, the adapter itself folded ,compromising the connection to the smartphone .

All this is a bit awkward to manage on the street, between cables, adapters and equipment. If, on the other hand, you intend to use AMP in domestic contexts, these problems do not arise. However, a device created to be compatible with mobile devices that suffers from mobility and logistics , perhaps requires excessive attention in order not to damage its components.

This could force many to have to replace the adapter, which, therefore, is as if it were not included in the product package, since the one in my possession was compromised after just 30 minutes of use. This does not prevent AMP from functioning as it should even if the ease with which it disconnects from the smartphone is unmanageable and at times frustrating.

In general, AMP offers the Super X - Fi service flawlessly, with the only drawback of the actual mobility and poor quality of the Micro USB adapter .

This is a product that is almost certainly worth the cash outlay it requires , as it is an experience that no one else offers on the market.

Furthermore, if you have a smartphone with a Type C connection, you will almost certainly have no problems with regard to the quality of the adapter.

Certainly there will be no problems with a more home use, even if the whim of being able to use it on the road requires more than some attention to structural defects.  technologywebdesign
